Karissa T. Kaseorg
As a litigator, Karissa enjoys partnering with insurers, retail clients and local governments to identify risk, prepare a thorough defense, and provide lasting value.
Her practice is focused in the areas of products liability defense, insurance coverage litigation, suretyship litigation, trucking defense, civil rights litigation, and civil appellate matters. Clients appreciate Karissa’s good judgement and seek out her guidance to determine whether cases should be settled or tried.
Recognizing some fights are worth having, Karissa regularly appears in state and federal courts throughout the Commonwealth. She has tried multiple jury trials and many bench trials as a first chair litigator. Through this experience, she has developed an understanding of how judges and juries operate, and she uses this knowledge to expertly advocate for her clients.
In addition, Karissa is adept at tailoring each case to her client's particular needs, always mindful of how she can achieve an intended outcome within a range of budgets.
Early on in her career, Karissa gained valuable litigation experience as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney prosecuting the sexual assault and domestic violence cases for her locality. She also served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Randolph A. Beales of the Virginia Court of Appeals following law school.
In her spare time, Karissa is gradually restoring her Jackson Ward home, built in the 1800s. She also loves exploring Richmond's outdoor spaces with her husband and young son.
“In every interaction, Karissa was prompt, instructive, and pleasant. She was very helpful guiding us through a unique request.”
