David has more than 30 years of experience leading complex corporate and commercial transactions and resolving a wide array of commercial, financial, human resource, and other critical business issues and disputes. His practice focuses on complex business and commercial transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, enterprise financing, business dispute resolution, and serving as the outside “in-house” counsel for numerous private enterprises.

David brings tremendous experience to his work, not only through his practice of law but also his work as a managing director of a middle-market investment bank, executing sell-side and buy-side merger and acquisition advisory projects, and also his key role as an owner, chief operating officer, and in-house counsel of an internet start-up company.

David graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia, received his law degree from the University of Virginia, along with his Master of Business Administration from UVA’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. He is a retired Major in the United States Air Force, where he served as an F-4, A-7 and an F-16 fighter pilot, commander of the command and control center (C-4) for the 149th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Virginia Air National Guard, and supervisor of flying in a number of fighter squadrons and wings over his 20-year Air Force career, during operations in Europe and the Middle East.

In addition to his Air Force career, David was an investment banker for 12 years with Matrix Capital Markets Group. While serving as a Managing Director at Matrix, David supervised numerous sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions and a host of corporate financing transactions. Prior to joining Sands Anderson, he was also a Chief Operating Officer, in-house counsel, and part founding owner of an internet marketing firm that developed internet marketing solutions, online marketing strategies, and promotion of business-to-business services and products.
