Brian R. Pitney

Favorite Book: Life by Keith Richards

As shareholder and member of the firm’s Board of Directors, Brian relies on his individual strengths and experience within a collaborative community to support your success. Brian served as the firm’s Business Group Leader for 12 years prior to being elected to the Board by his fellow shareholders in 2017. He represents entrepreneurs as they become masters of the universe — helping them grow by acquisition, selling at the right price and time, and then doing it all over again.

Brian brings creativity and intelligence when counseling clients in the areas of business formations, commercial real estate, commercial transactions, and mergers and acquisitions. He draws on over 30 years of experience when representing individuals and companies as general counsel. With each client, he takes the time to understand their specific goals, develop inventive solutions for their needs, and find successful paths forward.

Brian’s thoughtfulness and drive have helped him build respectful and lasting professional relationships. As your legal ally, he works to handle your specific and complex business issues with logic, efficiency, and great care.

When he’s not in the office, Brian enjoys throwing pottery, rooting for the Tarheels, and playing hot dice on the craps table. He loves music and plays the harmonica.

Brian's experience includes representing:

  • Entrepreneurs in sales and acquisitions; general counsel
  • Financial institutions in loans, workouts, and foreclosures
