RICHMOND, Va. and WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (January 5, 2022) – Four attorneys have been elected shareholders of Sands Anderson PC, according to firm president Margaret F. Hardy. The new shareholders are Patrick T. Andriano, Robyn H. Hansen, Christopher M. Mackenzie, and Nathan C. Mortier.

Andriano focuses on helping school divisions, independent schools, and educational companies solve their most complex problems. He understands the vast issues facing clients in the education sector, and he works to help them minimize risk and maximize legal outcomes. Andriano’s experience includes the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and helping clients comply with Title IX and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Andriano received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law. He is based in Sands Anderson’s Richmond office.
Hansen is a seasoned attorney with more than 35 years of experience counseling employers across a range of industries with respect to a broad spectrum of legal obligations. She guides employers in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that create and maintain a positive work environment while ensuring compliance with relevant laws. A skilled litigator and advocate, Hansen vigorously defends her clients in claims filed against them with both federal and state agencies, and in state and federal court. In addition to employment law, Hansen has a wealth of experience in the laws governing the public sector, non-profit institutions, and small businesses. She received her undergraduate degree from William & Mary and her law degree from the William & Mary Law School. Hansen resides in the firm’s Williamsburg office.
Mackenzie focuses his practice on real estate, land use, and zoning law. He serves as counsel to public bodies, authorities, and other local government clients. He also works with businesses, investors, lenders, and individuals in real estate transactions, and offers a depth of experience handling local zoning applications and community association matters. Mackenzie received his undergraduate degree from James Madison University and his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. He works in the firm’s Richmond office.
Mortier, who joined Sands Anderson in 2021, collaborates with healthcare providers to develop new services, pursue affiliations and transactions, navigate ever-changing regulations, and respond to regulatory investigations and government enforcement actions. He guides hospitals and health systems, physician groups, long-term care providers, and other healthcare organizations in obtaining necessary licenses and certifications, developing compliant business relationships, obtaining Virginia Certificates of Public Need, and resolving reimbursement audits and appeals. Mortier received his undergraduate degree from Hillsdale College and his law degree from the William & Mary Law School. He is in the Williamsburg office.
