Sands Anderson Attains Mansfield Certification Plus Status for 2023-2024
RICHMOND, Va. (October 3, 2024) – Sands Anderson is pleased to announce that it has achieved Midsize Mansfield Certification Plus for the 2023-2024 year. The achievement is the result of a year-long collaboration with Diversity Lab to track, measure, and achieve diversity and advance inclusive practices in law firm leadership.
Named after Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to practice law in the United States, the Mansfield certification process aims to close the gender and diversity gap in the legal profession and improve the representation of historically underrepresented lawyers in law firm leadership.
Sands Anderson’s Certification "Plus" status indicates that, in addition to successfully meeting Mansfield Rule’s consideration and transparency requirements, the firm achieved at least 30 percent representation of historically underrepresented lawyers in current leadership roles and pipeline activities.

Sands Anderson joined Mansfield in 2021 and became Mansfield Certified in 2023, the first Richmond-based midsize law firm to achieve this milestone. The firm is now participating in its third cohort, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive talent practices that boost diversity in leadership.
