Associates Alexander S. Jones and Whitney Nelson-Crawford Join Sands Anderson’s Education Team
RICHMOND, Va. (April 23, 2024) – Sands Anderson PC today announced two new associates, Alexander S. Jones and Whitney Nelson-Crawford, have joined the firm in Richmond. Both Jones and Nelson-Crawford are members of the firm’s Government Group and will be on the School & Education Law Team.
The School & Education Law team at Sands Anderson is the largest in the state focused on counseling Virginia public school divisions on both general education and special education matters.
Jones will work with Virginia public school divisions, providing counsel on general education and special education matters, including IDEA and Section 504 issues. Prior to joining Sand Anderson, Jones focused on mergers and acquisitions, working on various transactional matters.
Nelson-Crawford’s practice will focus on general education and employment matters such as personnel concerns, student discipline, and policy and governance issues. She worked as a school counselor before gaining experience as an employment lawyer and helping companies navigate workplace issues.

Jones received his juris doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law and his bachelor’s from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Nelson-Crawford received her juris doctor from University of Richmond School of Law, her master’s in education from Salem State University, and her bachelor’s in music from Western Connecticut State University.
