Laura Maughan Joins Sands Anderson's Litigation Group
RICHMOND, Va. (December 4, 2023) – Sands Anderson PC today announced Laura Maughan has joined the Firm as Counsel in the Richmond office. An experienced litigator, Maughan focuses on offering tailored solutions to a diverse range of clients including healthcare providers, correctional systems, and constitutional officers.
Maughan, who will be a member of the firm’s litigation practice and healthcare team, has experience litigating matters across both the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and in state courts, addressing a range of issues from civil rights claims to constitutional matters.
“Laura is a pivotal addition to our litigation practice group,” said firm president Margaret Hardy. “We are confident that her thoughtful approach and relevant litigation experience will bring substantial value to our clients. Prior to Sands Anderson, Maughan worked for the Correctional Litigation Section at the Office of the Attorney General, focusing on defending the Commonwealth and the Virginia Department of Corrections in diverse civil litigation cases – most notably, state employees responsible for setting healthcare policy. While at the Office of the Attorney General, she was also a member of the National Association of Extradition Officials and conducted trainings on extradition for nationwide audiences.
Maughan received her juris doctor from University of Richmond School of Law, her master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia. She can be reached at lmaughan@sandsanderson.com.
