RICHMOND, VA – Daniel M. Siegel, Esq., a shareholder of the Sands Anderson PC law firm, has been inducted into the Virginia Law Foundation Fellows Class of 2017.

All members of the Fellows Class of 2017 were inducted at a dinner and ceremony on January 19th at the Williamsburg Lodge & Conference Center during the Virginia Bar Association’s annual meeting.

The Virginia Law Foundation Fellows program was created in 1983 by its Board of Directors to encourage and recognize excellence in the practice of law and public service and to support the programs and objectives of the Foundation. The current Fellows membership is nearly 500.

“By honoring Dan Siegel in this way, the foundation has recognized that Dan is outstanding in his profession and community, and has used his skill, knowledge and dedication to improve the administration of justice and promote the rule of law in the Commonwealth,” said firm president Margaret F. Hardy. “The honor bestowed upon Dan by the Foundation is so richly deserved. Sands Anderson is privileged to be Dan's professional home.”

Siegel earned his law degree and his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He is a chair of the Government Group at the firm. Siegel is a widely-recognized leader on public finance law in Virginia. He has served as bond counsel in more than 1,500 tax-exempt financings totaling more than $4 billion for economic development, utilities, healthcare, housing, traditional governmental, non-profit, university, and other educational facilities. He has also represented underwriters, banks, authorities, cities, towns, counties, school districts, and private users in financings.

As the initial bond counsel to the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority, Siegel worked on hundreds of economic development financings and structured the nation's first multi-jurisdictional umbrella bond financing. Siegel lectures frequently on topics ranging from Special Tax Districts in Virginia, Infrastructure Financing, and Economic Development to Legal Ethics for Land Use Lawyers.

Siegel is the author of the Virginia Small Business Financing Act, which created a
statewide issuer for Virginia economic development needs. He is rated AV, the highest possible score in experience and ethics, through the Martindale Hubbell Peer Review rating system. He has been listed in Virginia Business magazine’s "Legal Elite" and also in Best Lawyers in America® since 2010.
