Laura specializes in litigation, representing a diverse range of clients including financial institutions, government entities, healthcare providers, correctional systems, constitutional officers, and professionals in Virginia’s state and federal courts.
Laura is an experienced litigator at Sands Anderson and a key member of the litigation and healthcare teams. With a pragmatic and results-driven approach to representing a wide range of clients, Laura is adept at handling any situation both inside and outside the courtroom.
With her substantial experience before judges and juries throughout the Commonwealth, Laura is at ease in the courtroom and ready to handle the unexpected. Her representation and experience extend across Virginia’s federal and state courts, addressing a range of issues including civil rights, business disputes, professional malpractice claims, and constitutional matters, including eminent domain.
Laura is personally invested in helping her clients work through and resolve their legal issues. Her approach is inclusive, recognizing the importance of each client’s unique situation.
Prior to Sands Anderson, Laura played a crucial role in the Correctional Litigation Section at the Office of the Attorney General, focusing on defending the Commonwealth and the Virginia Department of Corrections in diverse civil litigation cases – most notably, state employees responsible for setting healthcare policy. While at the Office of the Attorney General, Laura was also a member of the National Association of Extradition Officials and conducted trainings on extradition for nationwide audiences.
Outside of work, Laura finds joy in caring for her small flock of chickens and enjoys moments by the James River with her family and dog. Her favorite indoor spot in RVA is the English Silver exhibit at the VMFA. Laura's reading interests range from the back of a cereal box to Russian novels, and she proudly considers herself to be an amateur coffee nerd.
