LaToya H. Croxton
As a member of Sands Anderson’s School & Education Law Team, LaToya provides legal guidance and representation to public school divisions across Virginia on an array of legal issues ranging from special education matters and student discipline to constitutional law and government investigations.
Her practice includes regularly counseling school boards on how to remain compliant with the laws that govern them. She has a talent for gaining consensus, working with multi-disciplinary teams, and conducting practical trainings on the legal issues that impact her clients.
LaToya proactively works with her education clients to avoid legal challenges but has the litigation experience necessary to vigorously represent her clients should matters progress to adversarial tribunals. She is skilled in preparing motions in limine, briefs in opposition, and other legal filings.
Prior to joining Sands Anderson, LaToya served as a prosecutor in the metropolitan Richmond area, skillfully litigating criminal matters before judges and juries and effectively negotiating thousands of cases to resolution. She uses that experience to negotiate settlements in the best interest of her education clients and provide lasting value.
Outside of work, LaToya enjoys cheering on her two sons at their sporting events. She also likes to take walks and trips to the beach, indulge in home interior design, and participate in various water sports.
